Kadokawa Pulls Novel Due to Plagiarism Concerns

Ore to Kanojo ga Maoh to Yusha de Seitokaicho Japanese publisher Kadokawa has notified many bookstores in Japan that it has pulled the recently released novel Ore to Kanojo ga Maoh to Yusha de Seitokaicho from its listings after it was discovered that many major elements of the book were identical to the popular Baka to Test to Shokanjou after extensive comparisons (1, 2) were made between both stories.

The author of Ore to Kanojo, Jo Aikawa is a first-time author having been one of the candidates for the 16th Dengeki Novel Award before the novel was published in May.

As expected, opinions are sharply divided on the issue, with Migiwa Korumono (tweet) criticizing Aikawa stating "I despise him as an author." while author Takami Kazuyuki in contrast stated support for Aikawa by stating "As long as the novel is fun, this degree of plagiarism is acceptable."
