Japanese Vocaloid Producer Kikuo Cancels Mexico Tour Over Safety Concerns

Humberto Saabedra

Sad news for Mexican Vocaloid fans as producer Kikuo has formally announced the cancellation of his planned Kikuo World Tour 2026 “Kikuoland: Above All Bounds -Mexico Tour” that was set to start at the end of the month in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon as part of the lineup for the Pal Norte music festival held in Fundidora Park, in the state’s largest city of Monterrey. The tour was also set for a date in Guadalajara before ending in Mexico City.

The producer, signed to Sony Music Japan as a part of the Crypton Future Media-Sony Music venture cited safety issues as the reason for the cancellation of the tour, owing to travelling with a small team, and the lack of consistent security guarantees around both standalone dates of the tour, which also included a Mexico City date at the Western Pavillion, or the Pabellon del Oeste, one of the country’s grandest stages usually reserved for globally known acts.

This is yet another in a long line of recent cancellations affecting national and international acts making the effort to perform in the country and they all center around the logistical and security hurdles local promoters are currently dealing with that are making touring and concert staging more difficult in the country, especially in matters of security.

However, the bigger problem may simply be the same problem impacting touring acts all over the world in that people are simply refusing to deal with Ticketmaster due to inflated ticket prices and fees, forcing artists to cancel long planned tours over low ticket sales and using other excuses to save face.
