viz-ipad-appSo it looks like Viz’s big news that they so endlessly teased on Twitter (@Viz_Media) last week without delivering was the release of a new free iPad app that allows for purchases of many of the publisher’s titles such as Bleach (Vols. 1-2), Death Note (vols. 1-2), Dragon Ball (vol. 1), Naruto (Vols. 1-2) and One Piece (Vols. 1-2) as well as the recently published Bakuman vol. 1.

In the coming weeks Ouran High School Host Club (vol. 1) will also be available on top of additional digital editions of Bakuman as well as D. Gray Man, Rurouni Kenshin and Vampire Knight and free previews of other series.

Publisher’s Weekly features an interview with Alvin Lu, senior VP and general manager of Viz Media regarding the iPad app and the context of the app in Viz’s larger strategy regarding digital manga publishing.
