Toei Planning Saint Seiya: Next Dimension Feature Film and Series

imageDuring the Toei Animation Meeting 2010 held in Brazil last Thursday for local licensors and broadcasters, Toei executives have confirmed to the Brazilian CavZodiaco blog that the studio is planning a feature film based on Kurumada’s Saint Seiya Next Dimension manga series to be released between 2011-2012.  The film will also be produced internally with the help of author Masami Kurumada, as well as confirming separate plans to begin work on another Saint Seiya anime series also based on the manga.

The second season of the current Lost Canvas OVA series is slated to debut this Winter, following Toei’s opposition to allowing any other studio handle Saint Seiya anime adaptations, which had upset Kurumada with a broken English comment left on his blog regarding the situation.  As TMS handled the Lost Canvas OVA series which was highly regarded by the fanbase, it stood in stark contrast to Toei’s OVA adaptation of the manga’s Hades Saga, which was heavily derided for being poorly handled.
