Still no Guin Saga Blu-Ray from Section23/Sentai Filmworks

For those still holding onto hope of a Guin Saga Blu-Ray from Section 23/Sentai Filmworks, this puts the final nail in the coffin. This morning a reader dropped a comment in the previous article with an email received from Best Buy regarding his pre-order for the Blu-Ray version suggesting that the Blu-Ray release was still proceeding as planned. This is what I got back in response from Section 23 rep Mike Bailiff:

“Although we’ve contacted BBY about the Blu-Ray listing they still haven’t taken it down. The status of Guin Saga hasn’t changed. It is still postponed.”

While this leads many to believe that the series won’t be released on Blu-Ray in the US, Aniplex‘s recent success with The Garden of Sinners Blu-Ray set indicates that Aniplex might release Guin Saga on Blu-Ray directly instead of relying on an American sublicensor.

I’ve contacted Aniplex for comment and will update if I hear back.
