Site Updates and A Preliminary Call for Writers
Humberto SaabedraSo I’ve eased up on editorials for awhile, mostly due to activity on PhoneNews running at a fever pitch with CTIA coming up at the end of the month, but I thought I’d take this time out to update everyone on a few aspects since I’ll be focusing most of my energy on CTIA prep for the next two weeks. I’m now opening up a preliminary call for experienced anime/manga bloggers.
The requirements for the position(s) are as follows:
These positions are open to general news. You must be able to cover any breaking news event in the anime/manga industry that is relevant to consumers and the industry itself. This means you shouldn’t expect to pass off an article on anything related to the Japanese industry that does not directly affect Western consumers. Culture and otaku posts are fine, but any other types of news will be reviewed to ensure consistency in reporting.
Also, you must be able to write in proper English. AnimeNews.biz is not a blog, and you must have writing skills that would pass muster at any ordinary newspaper. While blogging experience is a plus, we expect and require excellent writing skills, and an ability to adapt to our existing writing style. In addition, some basic knowledge of HTML is necessary. You do not need to be a web designer or an HTML expert, but you must know how to tweak or edit source code when needed. Experience with WordPress as a publishing platform is a huge plus. Experience with the BlogDesk desktop publishing program is a plus as well as Japanese language comprehension, but is not a strict requirement.
AnimeNews.biz Writers are paid on a freelance basis, per article. We do not have quotas, but you must contribute articles on at least four days per week. This ensures that you will remain a regular member of the team, and is necessary to allot that time in your schedule.
If you meet all these requirements, we encourage you to apply and become the newest member of the AnimeNews.biz team!
