Shoji Kawamori to Launch BASQUASH Mecha/Sport Anime Project

Famed anime producer and mechanical designer Shoji Kawamori has revealed a new project in the works that prominently features NIKE branding along with his trademark mechanical designs made famous by the Macross series spanning television series, original video animation and feature films.

BASQUASH is currently in production through the SATELIGHT studio which has served as his professional home since 2006 and the project site is currently live with two teaser videos depicting a NIKE branded basketball and a robotic pair of legs with NIKE shoes respectively.

Based on these aspects, the anime is expected to combine mecha aspects with the sport of basketball as demonstrated by the imagery found on the project website, such as the logo and the teaser videos, with the timer on the website counting down 50 days from now, suggesting a December debut of the project.
