Sentai Filmworks Rescues Rozen Maiden, Adds Overture OVA Series

[/media-credit]Sentai Filmworks has announced that it has re-licensed the Rozen Maiden anime adaptation previously licensed by Geneon USA and formerly distributed by Funimation. The series is adapted from the manga written by the author team known as Peach Pit while all three titles in the series (Rozen Maiden, Traumend, Overture) were directed by Kou Matsuo using character designs and script supervision by Jukkii Hanada and character designs by Kumi Ishii
In addition, the new license includes the home video exclusive Rozen Maiden: Overture episodes that serve as an end cap to the series and were previously unlicensed in the US. The Overture episodes will also be dubbed into English by Bang Zoom Entertainment, while being released as a stand-alone DVD instead of being included in the new complete collection. The series will be released during the holiday season via digital distribution as well as a DVD release. Obligatory horrid PR copy follows below.
Synopsis
Remember those nightmares you had as a child, where your toys came to life? That’s the reality that Jun Sakurada suddenly finds himself living when Shinku arrives in a box, the first of several magical Rozen Maidens to invade his secluded life. Worse, he’s found himself magically bound to Shinku, his life force powering hers, and she’s not too crazy about the way he’s been living his life. Unfortunately, fixing everything that’s wrong with Jun is going to have to take a back seat to making sure that Shinku survives the Alice Game, a competition that pits Rozen Maiden against Rozen Maiden for the prize of becoming a real girl, while the losers’ life essence is drained and they become lifeless toys again. Now, in order to win this deadly game, Jun and Shinku will have to find a way to work together. But to do that they’ll have to start trusting each other first!
