ƒSatoshi Kon Retrospective

Satoshi Kon’s Kon’stone blog has been updated with information on a new retrospective exhibition being held in Japan in August from the 12th to the 24th with assistance from Madhouse. The “Millenium Gift” exhibition will feature key illustrations from before his career as animation director as well as artifacts from the director’s personal collection as well as screenings of his films and talks given by key people involved with the director during his lifetime.

The retrospective is being held in Shinjuku and will end on the date of his passing, August 24th. A limited edition boxset containing select illustrations will also be offered, with more specific details to be confirmed. Satoshi Kon passed away on August 24th 2010 due to complications from pancreatic cancer while in production for his now final feature film in Yume Miru Kikai, known in English as The Dreaming Machine, which is still in production via Madhouse.
