Navarre: Funimation Q4 2009 Sales Decline from Q4 2008

Humberto Saabedra

Funimation Entertainment parent Navarre Corporation reported earnings for the fourth quarter of 2009 on Thursday and reported a combined 15% sales decrease in the fourth quarter in its combined publishing segment (which consists of Funimation BCI and Encore). The drop in sales is pinned on a weaker than normal release schedule, which was also reported in the third quarter of the same year.

The report also includes the recent May 27th news about the possible sale of Funimation with the goal of reclassifying the company as a discontinued operation in Navarre’s financial statements during the first quarter of 2011 should the sale be completed, while Funimation continues operations as normal.
