Funimation to Release Tsubasa on Blu-Ray in March 2009

tsubasa-blu-ray-boxFunimation has leaked plans to release the Tsubasa: Reservior Chronicle series as a complete season set on Blu-Ray next year.

The leak came thanks to a trailer page with a listing for the set with a release date of March 17th, 2009 but was not included in the latest solicitation listings for the month which has led some to believe that the set will release later, but Funimation does have a history of omitting releases from solicitation lists due to time constraints.

This continues Funimation’s practice of releasing Blu-Ray versions ahead of the Japanese market with the Dragon Ball Z movies as the most prominent examples.  While Tsubasa was released on DVD in Japan, the show was broadcast in 1080i HD in Japan and Hong Kong, with Funimation receiving the appropriate masters for the Blu-Ray release when the series was first licensed.
