First Image from SUBARU x GAINAX Project Surfaces

The official Twitter feed for the SUBARU x GAINAX (@sbr_gx) animation project has revealed the first image from the production, which looks to be preliminary drawings showcasing the storyboards and rough sketches for the project.

The project and is a collaboration between the Japanese car manufacturer Subaru and animation studio Gainax and is the third concurrent project for the studio along with Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Dantalian no Shoka.

Staff for the project consists of Shoji Saeki, who worked on FLCL, Mahoromatic, and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, along with Gurren Lagann and Mahoromatic staff member Daisuke Kikuchi on concept art. Character design is being done by Mai Otsuka of Amagami SS and Arakawa Under The Bridge.
