Milan Records and Sony Music have announced the official global release of the opening theme for the latest season of apocalyptic adventure anime Dr.STONE in SCIENCE FUTURE, with SUPERNOVA by J-Pop duo KANA-BOON. The duo had this to say regarding its official release following the premiere of the first episode on Thursday in Japan:

“We’re truly honored to perform the opening theme for Dr.STONE! Thanks to this opportunity, we’ve created a powerful track! ‘SUPERNOVA’ is a solid and aggressive song that perfectly matches the intensifying battles of Senku and his friends in this cour. SUPERNOVA” has transcended the boundaries of anime music to become KANA-BOON’s latest killer tune! Imagination and creativity, these are essential to music—no, they go even deeper, touching the very core of human nature. That’s the theme we explored in this song: imagination. And with it comes endless trial and error. The energy of repeatedly challenging and turning imagination into reality is embedded in the music. Please give it a listen!”

Alongside the opening theme, the music video for “SUPERNOVA” was also released today.  KANA-BOON also commented on its production:

“The music video is packed with a world view that takes the song further and wider, with visuals you’ll want to watch again and again! It’s a fantastic piece born from the director and production team’s incredible imagination. In the end, we go full SUPERNOVA mode, so be sure to watch it all the way through!”

Dr.STONE SCIENCE FUTURE is described as such:

Senku discovers that the mastermind behind humanity’s petrification—Why-Man—is on the moon. To uncover the truth, he launches the “Moon Landing Project,” aiming to build a spaceship from scratch in the Stone World. Their journey begins with a quest to gather materials from around the globe, starting in America, where they encounter Dr. Xeno’s advanced Kingdom of Science. As science clashes with science, Chrome captures Dr. Xeno, and the team sets their sights on South America—the origin of the petrification beam. Facing the threat of Stanley’s forces, Senku and his allies race through the Amazon, uncovering the secrets of the Medusa device and pushing the boundaries of science.
