BookWalker Publishes Dev Log Detailing Platform Transition

Humberto Saabedra

BookWalker has published an extensive article by J-Novel Club CEO and M12 lead Sam Pinansky on the inner workings of the BookWalker platform transition that allows US readers to purchase and download titles onto compatible apps and devices that support the Readium standard for DRM protected EPUB files including future support for Kobo eReader devices.

This transition from a siloed application with origins in Japanese application development to a more liberal platform that allows downloadable titles does not come without roadblocks and challenges, but Sam details in plain language what features are available, and which are taking more time than expected for full implementation.

The entire article is worth a read and explains why such a platform transition isn’t as easy as assumed.
