4Kids Entertainment has announced that it has licensed the recently announced Dragon Ball Z Kai for network broadcast on its CW4Kids programming block beginning this Fall for the 2010-2011 season. In keeping with current broadcast standards, the series will also be heavily edited for network broadcast compared to the edits found on the forthcoming Nicktoons broadcast.

The series will be distributed by Funimation on DVD/Blu-Ray later this year and will premiere this May on the Nicktoons extended premium cable network. The series will premiere on the programming block in a series of sneak preview episodes this summer before being placed on a permanent timeslot this Fall and will be made available for online streaming on both 4Kidstv.com and 4Kids.tv portals.

The series premiered last year in Japan in a joint project between Toei Animation, Shueisha and author Akira Toriyama to condense the series inline with the manga series as well as remastering in high definition and re-recording dialogue with most of the original cast to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
