Sprint and Clearwire Confirm December 1st NYC/LA WiMax Launch, “Late December” for SF

Sprint and Clearwire have jointly confirmed a December 1st launch for its respective WiMax services after months of anticipation from customers and insiders.  The San Francisco launch has been relegated to a “late December” launch timeframe.

This follows reports of intermittent WiMax service in LA, San Francisco and New York City within the past month as both companies complete preparations to formally launch service and open up sales of equipment and service ahead of the commercial launch to select customers.

Update: Sprint has revised its launch dates for WiMax service at November 1st for New York City and December 1st for LA, with San Francisco in the same “late December” timeframe.
