Ring of Gundam Preview at Gundam Big Expo

Following up, the Gundam Big Expo event also previewed Ring of Gundam – the animated short film created by franchise creator Yoshiuki Tomino with the Mainichi Newspaper Mantan blog posting a frame from the hybrid CG/2D animation film which marks the 30th anniversary of the franchise.

“Ring of Gundam” takes place in a new era long after the events of the first Mobile Suit Gundam series One-Year War with a giant 600 kilometer wide ring floating in lunar orbit. An Earth Federation Forces member named Eiji discovers an object called “Beauty Memory” buried in a high-altitude rockbed on Earth.

The tagline for the film is “Amuro’s memories” with actors Daijiro Kawaoka playing Eiji and Yuka Hirata playing the heroine Yuria.
