HTC Pushes Out EVO 4G Memory Card Storage Fix, Breaks Root

Humberto Saabedra

During the launch for the EVO 4G this morning, HTC quietly pushed out an OTA update for all EVO 4G devices that addresses last minute shipping bugs, chief among the was the inability to write to the memory card bundled into the device when purchased.

Before the update, reports surfaced that users were not able to save data to the bundled 8GB memory card with the device throwing insufficient write permission errors when using the card.

Another consequence of the update is that the recently released root walkthrough for the device is now ineffective and another root will have to be developed that takes into account the critical update.
