GoSmart Mobile Double Data Promotion Ends Next February With No Grandfathering

GoSmart_Logo_BlackFollowing the quiet rollout of its own double data promotion last month in order to drive more subscribers for the holidays, T-Mobile service brand GoSmart Mobile has recently updated the terms of its current promotion to add an ending date of February 1st, 2015 with the following disclaimer, bolded for emphasis:

Until Feb 1, 2015, $35 plan starts at 3G and upon 1 GB of use in a cycle is reduced to 2G speeds for remainder of cycle. $40 plan starts at 3G and upon 6 GB of use in a cycle is reduced to 2G speeds for remainder of cycle. $45 plan starts at 3G and upon 10 GB of use in a cycle is reduced to 2G speeds for remainder of cycle. After 2/1/15, increased high-speed data allotment will automatically revert to 500MB for $35, 3GB for $40, and 5GB for $45.

With this update, the double data promotion is made less appealing, as Boost Mobile recently made its promotional double data plans a permanent fixture in its plan slate after the plans proved much more popular than expected. With the above promotional plans, GoSmart Mobile was a more compelling proposition, even when compared against other brands such as AT&T’s Cricket and smaller MVNOs, despite featuring throttled data speeds. Another trump card that GoSmart Mobile features is unlimited access to Facebook and the standalone Facebook Messenger app at full LTE speeds, which when combined with the increased data allotments made using data much less of a concern compared to other service providers.
