Funimation Posts Sgt. Frog Test Episode on YouTube

Funimation has posted a test episode of Sgt. Frog (Keroro Gunso) on their YouTube channel (Region locked to the US and Canada) for fans to watch and give feedback on the quality of the script and dub.

Sgt. Frog was licensed at one point by ADV in 2007 with an eye towards a TV slot on Cartoon Network, but was mysteriously dropped from their release schedule after all but confirming the release of the first DVD later that year, presumably after failing to secure a long-term broadcast deal.

The show is based on a long running manga about a supposed elite group of 5 alien space frogs from the planet Keroro who have come to invade the earth, but have many misadventures in their quest to take over the planet.

Many insiders have also noted the slim viability of the show in terms of commercial success based on its length (250 episodes as of last week and still in production in Japan), and its frequent references to Bandai products such as Gundam plastic model kits and other merchandise as well as inside jokes related to Japanese otaku culture.

The ultimate purpose of the test is not known however, as Funimation has not divulged release plans for the series or even officially announced it as part of their release schedule.
