Danger Reports Server Failure, Possible Complete Loss of Sidekick User Data

Humberto Saabedra

Not long after the data access debacle that crippled data access for Sidekick users last week, T-Mobile and Danger have confirmed that a massive server failure in one of Danger’s data centers has led to the possible permanent loss of user and device data for many, if not all Sidekick users.

Since the Sidekick relies on an external server connection to maintain information on the device, T-Mobile, Microsoft and Danger are imploring customers not to remove batteries from devices or allow them to become discharged, as doing so will lead to permanent data loss siince the servers that handle device and user information are still non functioning.

For its part, T-Mobile has promised a further update on Monday regarding the status of its data recovery efforts, but the statement given regards the successful outcome of the data recovery process as “extremely low”, further frustrating users.
