Hetalia Axis Powers Broadcast Canceled in Japan Due to Korean Extremist Protests

hetaliaThe official website for the WWII parody Hetalia Axis Powers TV series has been updated with a message stating that the planned Japanese broadcast of the show slated to begin on January 24th has been canceled due to heated protests from Korean protesters regarding a character of Korean ethnicity lampooning the country that does not even exist in the anime adaptation.

The proverbial last straw came in the form of an exaggerated breast grab by the personification of Japan, which sent many in a furious rage as it was meant to represent a humorous take on the forced occupation of Korea by Japan during the war.

There is a silver lining in the fact that mobile phone and internet streaming will continue as planned along with the DVD, so those that do wish to view it will be able to for what that’s worth, with the inevitable rips being made available soon.
